Milkcrate is launching late 2026. These docs show how it will work.

Glossary

Short definitions for the words you meet in the dashboard and in these docs.

Handle

Your name on Milkcrate and the start of your address: <handle>.milkcrate.site. It is 3 to 63 characters, made of lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, and it can’t start or end with a hyphen. After you change it, you can’t change it again for 30 days. For 14 days you can take your old handle back. See your handle and address.

Address

The web address of your sitepage. It is <handle>.milkcrate.site unless you connect your own domain and Milkcrate verifies it. Then your domain is the main address.

Sitepage

The public page Milkcrate builds and publishes for you at your address.

Pool

The full list of one kind of content on your site: Links, Watch, Listen, Menu, Services, Events, Media, Reviews or Sell. Your integrations fill a pool, and you can add your own items to every pool except Reviews. You choose what shows and in what order. See how connecting works.

Get started

The set-up that follows sign-up, one question per screen. Which screens you see depends on your account and on what Milkcrate found for you. Milkcrate ticks what it found, and you can untick anything you don’t want. See Get started.

Suggestion

An integration Milkcrate found through one you already connected, such as a shop linked in your Instagram bio. It appears on the Integrations page as a card marked Suggested. Press Connect to add it or Not now to pass.

Action

One of the buttons at the top of your site, up to five. A button can open an integration, such as Book, Reserve or Order, or a page, or your latest video. Set them on the Actions page.

Smart order

Ordering that follows what visitors tap. On a pool it is “Most popular first”. On the Actions page and the Pages card it is a switch: “Let Milkcrate choose your buttons” and “Let Milkcrate order your pages”. Turn the switch off to set the order yourself.

Architecture

How your site is laid out. There are three: Scroll, Visit and Staple. Scroll is where every site starts, and you can switch on the Site page. See The Site page.

Capability

Something your account can use, such as a Menu or a Reserve button. Your account type and your industry decide which ones you get. See account types and capabilities.

Sector

Your industry, the answer to “What do you do?” in Get started (“What industry are you in?” on a Business account). In the food sector, a Business account gets a Menu, a Reserve button and an Order button, and an Other account gets a Menu.

Claim

Taking over a site Milkcrate built for you before you signed up. Until someone claims it, the page asks search engines not to list it. To claim it, you add your email, enter the code we send you and set a password. See claiming a site built for you.

Custom domain

Your own domain as your site’s address. You add the DNS records Milkcrate shows you in Settings → Domain. Once Milkcrate verifies it, it becomes your main address, and your Milkcrate address redirects to it. See custom domain.

Design kit

The nine settings that set your site’s look: main colour, background, font, size, letters, top bar, corners, boxes and spacing. See colour, text and layout.
