Milkcrate is launching late 2026. These docs show how it will work.

Claiming a site built for you

Milkcrate can build a site from public information before you sign up. You claim it with the email it invited, a code and a password.

Some sites exist before their owner has an account. Milkcrate builds one from public information, such as a business listing or an Instagram profile. The address stays reserved for that person until they claim it.

How you find out

Milkcrate emails the owner an invite with the subject “Your Milkcrate site is ready — claim it”. The invite has a “Claim your site” button. It is personal to the address it was sent to. The button opens app.milkcrate.site/claim/<handle>.

An unclaimed site that uses the Scroll layout also shows a “Finish site setup” bar on its home page. It links to the same claim page. Visit and Staple sites have no bar, so use the invite email.

While Milkcrate is still building an unclaimed site, any layout shows visitors a card that says “Your content is still being grabbed”. They can close it with “Keep looking”.

What you do

The claim page is headed “Claim your site” and says your address is built and waiting. There are three steps:

  1. Enter the email the invite went to and choose “Email me a code”.
  2. Enter the six-digit code from that email.
  3. Set a password and choose “Save and continue”. It needs at least 8 characters, with a letter and a number.

You then land in Get started, where you check what Milkcrate found. The claim doesn’t ask for your name or address again. Milkcrate already has them from the build, and you can change them later.

Use the email the invite went to

The claim only works with the address Milkcrate invited. A different address gets “This site is reserved for a different email address.” Google sign-in isn’t offered on the claim page for the same reason. If the invite went to an address you no longer use, reply to the message, or email support@milkcrate.site.

What visitors see before you claim

An unclaimed site is public at its address, so you can look at it before you decide. It is marked noindex, so search engines are asked not to list it. Once you claim it, search engines can list it like any other site.

After you claim

The site is yours to edit in the dashboard. Your services, videos and links are there. Untick or edit any of them.
