Milkcrate is launching late 2026. These docs show how it will work.

Contacts

Everyone who sends an enquiry or joins your mailing list lands in one Contacts table. You can add people, archive them and download the list.

Contacts is the list of people you have heard from. Someone lands here when they send a message through your contact form or join your mailing list with the sign-up form. You can also add people yourself.

The contacts table

Each row is one person. It shows their name, their email, the date they were added, and whether they are Subscribed to your mailing list or Not subscribed.

Use Search contacts to find someone by name, email or phone number. The All contacts filter narrows the table to people who are subscribed or not subscribed.

If someone sends a second enquiry from the same email address, Milkcrate adds it to their existing row instead of making a new one.

Adding and editing a contact

Select Add contact to enter someone yourself. A name and a valid email are required. A phone number is optional. You also choose whether they are on your mailing list.

Select any row to open that person. You can change their name, email, phone number and subscription, then save. The panel also says how they first arrived: through your contact form, through your site, or added by you.

Archiving and erasing

Open a person and choose Archive to take them out of your current list without deleting them. A message offers Undo straight afterwards. To archive several people at once, tick their rows and use the button that shows the count.

Once you have archived anyone, a Show filter appears at the top of the table. Choose Archived to see them. Open one and choose Restore, or tick rows and choose Restore with the count. If someone you archived sends a new enquiry, they come back to your current list.

If a person asks you to delete their details, open them and choose Erase details. Their name, email and phone are wiped, they come off your mailing list, and so do the details on their enquiries. This cannot be undone, and an erased contact cannot be restored. Archive them instead if you might want them back.

Downloading your contacts

Open the menu beside Add contact and choose Download contacts. Pick a format:

  • Spreadsheet (.csv) opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
  • Phone contacts (.vcf) adds people to your phone’s address book.

Then choose who to include: everyone, only people on your mailing list, or only people not on it. Archived contacts are left out. The file is built in your browser and saved to your device.

Your sign-up form

Edit your sign-up form, at the top of the page, controls the mailing-list box on your site. It has three settings:

  • Show the form on your site turns the box on or off. If it can’t be turned on yet, the panel tells you why.
  • Words in the email box is the text inside the box before anyone types. Leave it empty to use “Sign up with your email”.
  • Everyone who joined downloads a spreadsheet of your mailing list, with the date each person joined.

Milkcrate doesn’t send emails to your list

Milkcrate collects your sign-ups and keeps them in Contacts. It does not send newsletters or bulk email. Download the list to use it with the tool you send email from.
